Local testing is wrapping up and it’s time to test the new ADK46erNow app in the field. The “360 View” feature, used to identify a hiker’s surrounding high peaks, requires on site testing.
So, armed with maps, location chart, compass and hiking equipment it’s time to look for a reasonable weather forecast!
The app is installed on my Android and iOS phones and ready to go. I’ll take the location charts and maps shown below to test peak identification from three different locations: from the summit of Cascade Mountain (and perhaps Porter, which is right next to it), from the road past The Meadows to the Adirondack Lodge, and from the summit of Hurricane Mountain.
Hopefully the trails will be in okay condition this early in the season and hopefully I won’t be working through the night to fix bugs (or itch bug bites)!
